About TEAM

It all started at the Women's March in January of 2017. On January 21, 2017, the day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Women’s March organized the largest single day protest in American history. Five million people marched across the globe, in every state, on every continent launching a movement. New Mexico was no exception. 

 

A group of women, who also happened to play tennis, formed a group immediately after the march and got to work on action steps recommended by Women's March organizers. We wrote postcards, made phone calls to legislators, fundraised for issues near and dear to our hearts, supported each other during a time of crisis. Thus, Tennis Enthusiast Action Movement (TEAM) was born. Since then we have hosted an annual Tennis Scramble fundraiser for local organizations, participated in letter writing campaigns, canvassed voters, and  volunteered  in support of Democratic candidates.

During COVID lockdowns we met virtually, hosted speakers, participated in phone banks, and continued our fundraising efforts for local organizations. In May of 2022, we returned to in-person meetings and we remain energized to continue to fight for women and the many marginalized people in our community.
